eta bali’ gelā śacī gṛhe karma karite
lukāñā lāgilā śiśu mṛttikā khāite


SYNONYMS

eta bali’ — saying this; gelāreturned; śacī — mother Śacī; gṛhe — in the house; karma — duties; karite — to execute; lukāñā — hiding; lāgilā — began; śiśu — the child; mṛttikā — dirt; khāite — to eat.


TRANSLATION

But when she returned to her household duties, the child hid from His mother and began to eat dirt.
